How To Prepare

Preparing for Your Kambo Session

  • To ensure the safest and most effective experience, please follow these preparation guidelines:

  • Fasting: Do not eat for at least 4–6 hours before your session. Clear liquids such as water, herbal teas, and coconut water are permitted.

  • Dietary Guidelines: We recommend avoiding meat on the day of your session, and ideally the day before as well. A lighter plant-based diet supports a smoother experience.

  • Substance Protocol: Please refrain from consuming alcohol or recreational drugs for 24–48 hours before and after your session. This helps reduce physiological stress and deepens your ability to connect with the medicine.

  • Addiction Support: If you’re working with addiction or on medication, please email us in advance so we can discuss individualized protocols to ensure your safety.

  • Time & Space: Arrange your schedule so you can arrive without pressure or time constraints. Give yourself spaciousness before and after to ground, integrate, and honor the process.

What to Bring

What to Bring to Your Kambo Session

To support your comfort, safety, and integration, please come prepared with the following items:

  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose, breathable layers. Your body temperature may fluctuate during the session, so it’s helpful to be able to adjust as needed.

  • Sarong or Wrap: Bring a sarong or cover-up in case you need to remove clothing for treatments on your back while maintaining modesty and comfort.

  • Yoga Mat or Cushion: A supportive surface to sit or lie on during the session.

  • Blanket & Small Pillow: These can help you rest more comfortably during post-session integration.

  • Towel & Tissues: A hand towel and box of tissues or roll of toilet paper for cleansing or cleanup as needed.

  • Hair Tie: If you have long hair, please bring something to tie it back.

  • Water: Bring 1 gallon of room-temperature spring or filtered water (not distilled). You will drink a portion of this about 15 minutes prior to your session.

  • Light Snack for Afterward: Bring fresh fruit or healthy, nourishing snacks to enjoy after the session for grounding and replenishment.

  • Journal & Pen: For reflections, insights, or guidance that may come through during or after the session.

  • Current Medications: Bring any medications or supplements you are currently taking.

Medical Needs:

  • If you have asthma, please bring your inhaler.

  • If you are diabetic, bring your insulin, testing equipment, and extra food for stabilization post-session.

What to Expect

What to Expect During a Kambo Session

Preparation & Application

Your Kambo journey begins with intention, presence, and gentle physical preparation. Within 5 minutes before the application, you’ll drink up to 1 liter of room-temperature water to help your body receive and move the medicine effectively.

Kambo is traditionally applied to small openings on the skin—commonly on the shoulders or upper arms—but may also be placed along specific energy lines or meridians, depending on your individual constitution based on assessment with the Kambo Frog Detox Method. These locations are chosen with care, informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine principles and intuitive assessment.

Using a small vine stick, your practitioner will gently burn tiny superficial points on the skin. The number of points varies per individual, with first-time treatments typically involving 3–5 points. Over time, these marks fade naturally—usually within 1–6 months—and tend to heal more quickly as your body acclimates to the medicine.

During the Session

Once the Kambo is applied to the skin, the effects are felt within seconds. You may experience:

  • A rise in body temperature

  • A sense of pressure in the crown or face

  • A quickened heartbeat

  • Swelling in the throat or lymph nodes as detox begins

These initial sensations signal that the peptides are activating and beginning their work. Stay focused on deep, steady breathing and allow the body to surrender to the process.

As the medicine enters the bloodstream, it triggers the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and other detox organs to release bile and stored toxins into the stomach. While this can bring temporary discomfort, it is the start of a powerful clearing.

Emotional Release

Kambo is not only a physical purge—it is a deep emotional cleanse. Long-held grief, anger, fear, or sadness may rise to the surface. Crying, vocal release, or waves of emotion are not uncommon. This is part of the healing. You are encouraged to trust the process, remain grounded in your breath, and let the medicine guide what needs to move.

The Purge

You’ll continue to sip water throughout the session, which acts as a conduit for toxins to be expelled from the stomach. This water becomes the medium through which the purge occurs—drawing out waste and energetic blockages alike.

Some people purge through vomiting, sweating, crying, or bowel movements. All forms of release are valid and sacred. The more you stay relaxed and hydrated, the more fluidly the process unfolds.

Completion & Recovery

The most intense part of the session typically lasts 10–15 minutes, while the medicine is on for 20 minutes, though the entire experience usually spans 30–45 minutes. As the purge completes, many people describe feeling lighter, cleaner, and electrically charged, with subtle waves of energy still moving through the body.

Recovery times vary, but 95% of clients feel stable within 45min-1 hour and are able to drive home. Some feel temporarily tired or “off” for the rest of the day, while others experience a noticeable surge of clarity, vitality, or emotional release. Most report waking up the next day with renewed energy, sharper intuition, and a deeper sense of inner alignment.

Aftercare

To support your integration:

  • Hydrate generously with clean water and electrolytes

  • Eat light, nourishing foods post-session

  • Allow time for rest, journaling, or reflection

  • Mild side effects (headache, fatigue) are rare but typically short-lived (Almost always avoidable with good hydration and rest)

Kambo is a sacred, intelligent medicine that works on all levels—physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual. Each session brings you closer to balance, vitality, and your natural state of resilience.

Your healing is your power. And Kambo is here to support your return to wholeness.
